Partnership with CSTV & ESPN Zone!

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove team up with CSTV and ESPN Zone! Together, ESPN and CSTV will donate $8000 to support the Clubs.

CSTV's Field and Dreams Foundation made a donation of $2000 to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Garden Grove for refurbishment of their gym at their Main Branch location. Craig Esherick, former Georgetown Basketball Coach, from CSTV presented the check to Dr. Sheldon Singer and Lon Cahill (Trustees) at the Main Branch of Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove with a gym full of members present.

"The members were excited to have guests in their Club and were amazed at the life size check! Renovation of our gym will definitely help programming and bring new life into these walls," states Charlotte Pittack, Main Branch Club Director.

The funds will be used to replace lighting, refurbish the flooring and upgrade the equipment. The members then loaded onto the busses and headed over to the ESPN Zone.

The Anaheim ESPN Zone located at the Downtown Disney District also made a $6000 donation toward the future of sports for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove, in conjunction with the Big West and the Big West Men's and Women's Basketball Championship. ESPN Zone presented the check to Pat Halberstadt, Chief Professional Officer and Janet Scott Tyler, Board President from the Boys and Girls Clubs Garden Grove immediately following the Big West's Battle of the Bands at Downtown Disney District in front of ESPN Zone.

150 Club members were also invited to join in the festivities. They were each given game cards to play at the ESPN Zone and had the chance to watch the Championship games. Most of the members have not been to a college game. The Boys & Girls Clubs are proud to partner with the Big West to promote higher learning and influence to excel in college sports.

"We are exited about this partnership because it exposes our children to the world of college athletics and these athletes can inspire and mentor our members to go on to higher education," explains Pat Halberstadt.

In the future we anticipate introducing our members to other areas of college sports including volleyball, soccer, and lacrosse. Whether or not members aspire to be college athletes, we hope to inspire them to attain higher education.

2006 is the 50th Anniversary of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove which has provided positive places for children to go during non-school hours, particularly when there is no adult at home, since 1956! Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove has grown through the past five decades to meet the special needs of the children and families in our community. Currently, we serve more than 2,500 children and teens (ages 18 months to 18 years) each day at our 19 program sites; or, as we like to say: "Diapers to Diplomas!"

Boys and Girls Clubs serve over 45,000 kids a year in the Orange County.

Boiler Plate - ESPN Zone was established in 1996 to create the ultimate sports-themed dining and entertainment experience in metropolitan markets in the U.S. and abroad. The business is built on the broad appeal of ESPN and its affiliated brands. Current ESPN Zone locations include Anaheim, Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas, New York City & Washington DC.

CSTV is partnered with The Boys & Girls Clubs of America in the establishment of The Fields & Dreams Foundation, dedicated to helping underserved high school students increase achievement through athletics. Co-chaired by former U.S. Senator and basketball icon Bill Bradley, the Foundation created the first national telethon based around a live football game in raising funds for victims of Hurricane Katrina.
