Highway of Dreams
Tonight sixteen members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove will be recognized in the Youth of the Year program hosted by the Garden Grove Evening Kiwanis Club. The Youth of the Year is a national program which recognizes outstanding contributions to a member's family, school, community and Boys & Girls Club, as well as personal challenges and obstacles overcome.
The Youth of the Year program is celebrating sixty years of excellence. It started in 1947 and has grown to symbolize the very best Boys & Girls Clubs have to offer. Historically, this program has had a tremendous impact on our members. Many of the former finalists are now very successful business people and leaders in their communities. Their occupations range from CBS news reporter to a Club Unit Director.
Qualifications to being Youth of the Year:
Service: Is helpful to staff and other club members, encourages others to participate and follow club rules.
Pride: Displays pride in himself/herself, the club and all it stands for.
Enthusiasm: Helps make the Boys & Girls Club a positive place to be.
