The Walt Disney Company Donates $235,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs
Seventeen Orange County Clubs receive $5,000 and 50 theme park tickets, Santa Ana club is given a 12-passenger van worth approximately $35,000
The Walt Disney Company recently made a $235,000 donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Los Angeles and Orange Counties.
As part of this annual contribution the Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove, along with 16 other Orange County clubs, received a $5,000 donation from Disney and 50 tickets to the Disneyland Resort, which can be used at the club's discretion. The Santa Ana Boys & Girls Club also was presented with one full-sized 12-passenger van, worth approximately $35,000. The donations were presented at a ceremony at Disney's California Adventure park on April 3. The event was hosted by Disneyland Resort Ambassador Liz Hetzel and attended by local children who participate in the Boys & Girls Club program.
"We are proud to be able to support the Boys & Girls Club organization because developing children and investing in their future is important to everyone in our society," said Jill Bolton, director of community relations for the Disneyland Resort. "This donation gives many local children a better chance to succeed by enriching their lives and providing positive alternatives for them after school."
The remaining donation dollars were presented to the LA Alliance and its 27 Boys & Girls Clubs at a special ceremony on April 1. An additional van was presented to the Los Angeles Boys & Girls Club.
Since 2005, Disney has committed more than $7 million to the Boys & Girls Clubs Of America (BGCA), including a $1 million contribution to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Anaheim, the single largest gift the organization has received in its 16-year history; a total of $250,000 to 44 Boys & Girls Clubs in Los Angeles and Orange Counties; and a $1 million gift toward the rebuilding of 16 Boys & Girls Clubs in the Gulf region that were damaged or destroyed by the hurricanes. Disney's history with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America spans more than 50 years, beginning when Walt Disney was an honorary member of the organization's Board of Directors.
