Vietnamese Actress & Pop Star Ha Phuong Donates Multi-Media Arts Center

Multi-Media Arts Center to Open in Garden Grove on Saturday;
Phuong to Make Donation at Friday Evening Affair in Huntington Beach

Vietnamese pop star Ha Phuong will announce the creation of the Ha Phuong Foundation with an initial million dollar donation at an event at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort in Huntington Beach, CA on Friday evening, April 4. Her inaugural foundation project will be the construction of a multi-media arts center in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove. The arts center will open its doors this Saturday morning with a visit from Ha Phuong.

Ha Phuong is a popular Vietnamese singer and actress who has released 12 solo albums and numerous other compilation CDs. She has also starred in a number of films and Vietnamese soap operas. Ha Phuong has performed live in concert internationally as well as in the U.S., including at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.

In an extraordinary demonstration of her commitment to helping others, Ha Phuong has pledged all her future earnings to the Foundation, directing 100% of revenue -- including DVD/CD sales, concert revenue and royalties -- from her music and acting career to the Foundation. The Foundation will center its work around two primary objectives: 1) helping underprivileged children, and 2) supporting music and arts. The Ha Phuong Foundation is the culmination of the founder's passion for music and her passion to support children's causes. The Foundation will initiate and support projects in the U.S. and Vietnam.

The Ha Phuong Foundation's first project in the U.S. is the formation of the Ha Phuong Community Music Center in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Garden Grove. This multimedia center is a state-of-the-art music/TV/radio/film/design studio and recording facility. The Orange County center will serve as a "prototype" for the Ha Phuong Foundation, which plans to build additional multi-media arts centers throughout the U.S., a vital step in the sustainability of arts education as a growing number of schools cut funding for music and art classes. These centers will put technology tools into the hands of young people and allow youth to creatively express themselves while also offering them market-ready job skills via training on professional equipment and software.

"I've been given a chance to use the opportunities afforded to me for the benefit of children in need," said Ha Phuong. "I am excited to be able to give back to the children of Orange County via this center that will not only offer access to music and the arts, but provide young people relevant career training that will allow them to advance their goals and improve their station in life."

The Foundation has also begun to develop music programs in Vietnam with an initial investment in the formation of a musical teaching/career development program for blind children. The program will provide musical instruments, curriculum, and arts-based vocational training for these underserved youngsters.

The launch of the foundation will be announced at the Friday evening affair at the Hyatt Regency at 7:45pm as part of a celebration of Vietnamese arts and culture hosted by Ha Phuong. Ha Phuong will also tour the newly built center and participate in a recording session with area children at 10:30am at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove.
