The acclaimed song and dance company The Young Americans is set to bring its 2008 Music Outreach Tour to Garden Grove for 100 members and staff of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove in a 3-day Outreach Workshop experience. The Young Americans is comprised of 200 performers/peer teachers ages 17 to 23 that travel the USA and throughout the world promoting music and performing arts while conveying a naturally honest image of youth.

The group, founded by Milton C. Anderson over 40 years ago, has gained notoriety through television appearances, recordings, concerts in some the world's finest venues and won an academy award for their documentary "The Young Americans". Through their International Music Outreach Program, in existence for the past 15 years, these extraordinarily talented young role models reach out and inspire young people by opening doors to discovering self esteem, self discipline and respect for others through the common denominator of music and performance. After just 2 days of workshop training in performance, song and dance, all participants join The Young Americans in a spectacular 2-hour live public performance for family and friends! Workshops are available for all 4th through 12th grade age groups by request to The Young Americans.

In each 3-day Outreach Workshop, a company of 40 Young Americans teach students a full one hour performance concert complete with staging, lights, costumes, music and dance. These brave young students, bursting with enthusiasm and accomplishment, sing, dance and act to the amazement of their teachers, friends and family. It is truly awe inspiring how the students are transformed with a new-found level of confidence and self-expression, discovering the strength within to try new things, to see through stereotypes and intolerance and to see the good in other people. Most importantly they learn and experience how they can be true to their own self. In a world where the most visible role models for our young people are entering prisons and rehab clinics at an alarming rate, it is refreshing to see and experience hope for our future generations.

"We are very excited to have the Young Americans come to our community to share their enthusiasm and talent with our staff and members. Our staff members will benefit from a workshop and training that will help them in our everyday programs at our site, and our kids will have an opportunity to improve their entertainment skills. Recently, the Young Americans volunteered at our Annual Keystone Conference, teaching teens from all over the world professional performance skills," Adaleeen McHale, BGCGG Executive Director expressed with enthusiasm.

What makes The Young Americans so unique is the perfect balance between arts and education and the willingness of each member to unconditionally give of themselves to others. These extraordinary young people tour the world as goodwill ambassadors, teachers and performers giving inspiration to thousands annually for over 40 years. In the past year, the company has staged over 200 performances and workshops in 120 cities, across 11 countries and 3 continents.

This month, the company will continue its tour season in Garden Grove with the enthusiastic group of students and delighted staff and parents, followed by two USA tours and into Japan, Germany, Gibraltar, Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Sweden and Poland.
