The Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove (BGCGG) provides hope and opportunity through school age, family strengthening, and community outreach programs, offering over 60 program locations that serve over 6,000 children daily and 10,000 families annually. BGCGG’s mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Our vision is to ensure that the children and youth who attend our programs become competent adults, caring parents, and responsible citizens.
Class: Non-Exempt, Casual
Hourly Rate: $13.00/hour
Hours: 10-15 hours/week; M-F 2:30-6:00pm
Location: Various sites

Primary Function: Observe players and regulate the play of sports events, with varying rules at different levels of the same sport. Make decisions and resolve disputes between teams.
Uses effective communication and maintains a professional tone in written and verbal communication consistently with staff members, volunteers, school personnel, parents and all community stakeholders
Communicates all pertinent program information with supervisor
Follows communication guidelines in regards to attendance procedures, including but not limited to:
o Calls out 2 hours in advance and notifies supervisor of potential late arrival
o Requests time off 10 days in advance
Responds to all forms of communication in a timely manner
Maintains BGCGG Core Values and mission; follows BGCGG and GGUSD standards of conduct
Demonstrates flexibility
Maintains a cooperative and healthy work environment
Follows BGCGG Appearance Guidelines
Performs as a positive role model for youth and peers
Meets organizational attendance guidelines
Completes assigned tasks and performs responsibilities in a timely manner
Regularly attends staff meetings, trainings as needed; assists with special events as required
Problem Solving

Applies behavior management techniques when dealing with member discipline
Minimizes interpersonal conflict
Program Development & Implementation
Observes actions of players at sporting events
Regulates play and watches for broken rules
Creates a fun and safe environment in which to play sports
Signals players or other officials to regulates play
Makes qualifying decisions and solves problems regarding problems
Directs players to assigned areas
Confers with other officials to coordinate actions and discuss problems
Inspects sports equipment or players to ensure safety and compliance with rules
Transport members from school to Main Branch 
Performs all other duties as assigned
High school diploma or equivalent; preferably attending college
Childcare and sports experience
Reliable transportation, safe driving record, CA driver license, at least 2 years of driving experience and automobile insurance
Business and customer service experience as asset
Bilingual capabilities a plus (Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to uphold the organization’s mission and values

Ability to concentrate in a situation with many possible distractions
Ability to make decisions quickly and fairly
Visual and auditory ability to act swiftly in an emergency
Ability to sufficiently supervise and interact with children and enforce safety standards
Position may require standing/sitting for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment, reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, bending at the waist; seeing to review and analyze reports, documents or other reports; hearing and speaking to communicate and provide information to others; speaking to be heard before groups of people; position may require to lift, carry, pull or otherwise move objects between 10-20 pounds
Must pass Staff Instructional Exam prior to employment; fulfills minimum professional development requirement
