Community Partner: Readiness on the Road

MOMS Orange County
Since October 2008, MOMS Orange County has housed the administrative offices of community organization Readiness on the Road, at it's facility in Santa Ana. A program of Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove, Readiness on the Road is a school readiness program funded by the Children and Families Commission of Orange County which provides free school readiness and parenting classes for families of children 2 1/2 -5 years of age at no cost.

Internet safety program to keep your kids safe

Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove and Sprint are teaming up to host an Internet and Media safety fair to teach parents and youth simple precautions to help children have a safer online experience. On March 5, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., attendees will hear how to safely and effectively use today’s technological resources at the main branch located at 9860 Larson Street. This event is free and open to the public.

Locals donate 3,000 pairs of shoes for Haitian relief

The call for the donation of "gently used shoes" by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove for donation to Haiti has met with a strong response. According to Heidi Levesque, area director, members of the public donated close to 3,000 pairs of shoes. The students and staff at Peters Elementary in Garden Grove collected 775 pairs, and even loaded up the cargo van.

Area residents reach out with help for Haiti

Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove have embarked on a shoe drive that concludes today (Thursday). On Friday, you can still turn in the shoes at the Family Campus on Chapman Avenue west of Euclid Street until noon. The organization is looking to collect “gently-used” shoes in all sizes (pairs only). From Garden Grove the shoes will be taken to the Sports Chalet in Huntington Beach to begin their journey to Haiti.

Art for Kids' Sake Includes GG Role

BGCGG members participated BGCA’s National Fine Arts Exhibit on January 8, 2010. The exhibit is a comprehensive initiative promoting young people’s creativity and encouraging artistic skills and cultural enrichment. Participants submitted artwork in four age divisions and ten categories, including watercolor, pastel, oil, acrylic, collage, and sculpture.

Money Matters Family Night Post Photo

Santiago High School student and Club member was among several other families and teens that took part in the Money Matters Family Night, sponsored by Charles Schwab Foundation at Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove. The event taught parents the basics of money management and provided practical information they can use at home with their children.
