DISCOVERY Science Center Awards Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove Grant for After-School Hands-On Science Fun

The importance of FSEA reaching out to the Garden Grove community will help children BE GREAT by providing fun, challenging, and motivating workshops that translates into future career aspirations. "We are looking forward to our new partnership with the Discovery Science Center through the FSEA program," said Melanie Seus, Senior Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove. "It is a terrific opportunity for our members to develop a passion for science that will be a pathway for science and engineering coursework and careers."

ABOUT BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF GARDEN GROVE
For more than 50 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove (www.bgcgg.org) have been a positive influence in young lives while playing an integral role in the Garden Grove community. Striving to help children and teens succeed, the Boys & Girls Clubs provide hope and opportunity through after-school programs and community outreach. Known as The Positive Place for Kids, today 57 Clubs and programs serve over 5,000 young people from Diapers to Diplomas, ages 18 months-18 years old on a daily basis. The Clubs offer programs in character and leadership development, education and career enhancement, the arts, health and life skills, and sports, fitness and recreation. Our family programs such as REACH For Literacy, Family & Youth Outreach Program (FYOP), ARCHES (Access to Resources for Children's Health, Education and Support), and the Truancy Reduction Program (TRC) expand our services to ensure that the needs of the whole child are met. About Future Scientists and Engineers of America (FSEA)
Founded in 1989, this community based, after-school program, uses a unique combination of challenging hands-on projects, volunteers and support from local businesses in an after-school setting where students experience the "technology process." FSEA clubs all across the country currently meet one day a week. Students from grades 4 through 12 work together in teams, with local scientists, engineers and technicians to design, build, test and compete various hands-on projects.
