Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove to Participate in National Photography Contest

Uniting Through Photography and Encouraging Youth to “Be an Imagemaker”

(Garden Grove, CA) – On Thursday, April 1st, Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove (BGCGG) is extending an invitation to the community to join a nationwide search identifying talented young artists through Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s (BGCA) ImageMakers National Photography Contest. The first stage of the competition will take place from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Family Campus, located at 10540 Chapman Ave., Garden Grove, CA 92840.

The contest is part of a comprehensive initiative encouraging artistic skills, cultural enrichment, and creativity in the medium of photography. “ImageMakers unites Club members through photography by providing a fun opportunity to freely express themselves in creative and unique ways,” said Amie Lynch, National Program Coordinator of Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove.

BGCGG members submitted photography in four age divisions and five categories: color process, black-and-white process, alternative process, digital, and photo essay. Selected photos will compete at the regional level and regional winners will be judged nationally. Twenty national winners will be named and their photography displayed in the ImageMakers National Photography Contest traveling exhibition and at special BGCA events throughout the year. Winning photographers will receive an award and regional finalists will receive a certificate of participation.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove has been running the ImageMakers program and hosting the photography contest for over a decade. As participation and number of entries increase, the quality of the photographs grows each year while Club members enjoy looking at life through a different lens.
