Fine Arts Exhibit 2011

January 09 2011

Garden Grove, CA (January 10, 2011) - On January 6, 2011, the very best of hundreds of fine art submissions from Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove's young artists went on display at Family Campus, featuring categories such as collage, monochromatic, color, and group projects, produced by a plethora of mixed media techniques, paint, paper, charcoal, and oil pastels.

The evening included live musical entertainment, an interactive art project, as well as an impromptu singing performance by member Fernando C. of Walton Intermediate. Many of the attendees and parents were pleasantly surprised at what the members had produced for the exhibit since art is a reflection of a child’s inner landscape of thoughts, feelings, and their unique human experiences.

"For the members we serve each day, art has become a vehicle in which they drive their thoughts and emotions into creative learning. The captivating combination of months of fine arts curriculum and creative self-expression culminated into one evening where artistic inventiveness became the focal point for all to enjoy," said Amie Lynch, National Program Coordinator.

Winners for the evening were distinguished by four age categories, a group project category and the recent addition of a staff category. Winners Tina T., Eisenhower Elementary ( 6-9 years of age ), Yarismet M., Russell Elementary ( 10-12 years of age ), Alberto M., Irvine Intermediate ( 13-15 years of age ), Santiago H., Santiago High School ( 16 -18 years of age ), Northcutt Elementary winner of group project, and Boys & Girls Club staff member, Trinh Tran from Main Branch Club site were all extremely excited not only to be awarded with an art prize package, but as importantly, to have their art pieces showcased with other exemplary examples of creative originality was itself an honor. Selected art pieces from Garden Grove will be entered into Boys & Girls Clubs of America's regional competition this summer.
