Frieda’s Donates Crepes to Boys & Girls Club of Garden Grove for Strawberry Festival Fundraiser
GARDEN GROVE, CA (May 23, 2011) – Boys & Girls Club of Garden Grove (BGCGG) will be selling Frieda’s, Inc. French Style Crepes filled with local strawberries during the 53rd Annual Garden Grove Strawberry Festival this weekend. Orange County-based Frieda’s Inc. is donating 3,000 of its ready-made packaged crepes, while Irvine’s Manassero Farms is donating the strawberries, to help the group raise funds for the club.
Andrew Halberstadt, facilities and safety manager with Boys & Girls Club of Garden Grove, coordinates the Club’s booth at the fair and approached Frieda’s for the donation. “The fact that the crepes are premade makes them hugely convenient for preparation at the festival, and they pair great with our strawberries,” Halberstadt said. Club members will also be handing out free coupons for Frieda’s Crepes at the booth. Packages of Frieda’s French Style Crepes can be found in the produce department at Ralphs supermarkets throughout Southern California.
In previous years, BGCGG has raised up to $8,000 from food sales at the non-profit Strawberry Festival. “The funds we raise are divvied up among our Club sites, but our involvement also allows us to be eligible for a sizeable building improvement donation from the Strawberry Festival Association,” Halberstadt said. In past years BGCGG has received two $25,000 donations for much-needed building improvements.
The festival will be held Memorial Day Weekend Friday, May 27th through Monday, May 30th, 2011. Friday hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is free. The four-day event will be held at the Village Green between Main Street and Euclid Avenue in downtown Garden Grove. Last year’s attendance was over 250,000. All four festival days will include 35 carnival rides, 5 contests, over 200 food and sales booths, games, music and live entertainment.
