Economic Opportunity
ARCHES believes in empowering families with the tools they need to help raise children and youth become competent adults, caring parents and responsible citizens. It is because of this belief that ARCHES incorporated an economic component to their program.
The economic opportunity component helps families find and keep jobs, increase earnings, build savings and establish credit. By teaching youth and their families the value of saving, ARCHES strengthens participants’ abilities to delay immediate gratification for a long-term payoff. Families leave the program with the skills and know how to be conscientious consumers, and more importantly, savvy investors in their own future.
ARCHES actively participates with Orange County Financial Stability Alliance. This coalition provides families and individuals with financial resources that include the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and a variety of financial literacy with a goal of building economic sustainability.
Need Help with Filing Taxes?
The EITC (Earned Income tax Credit) effort utilizes a FREE internet-based tax preparation software called I-CAN!. Individuals who earned less than $50,000 can access the I-CAN! E-File program. The ARCHES goal is to help hard working families get their full tax credits, especially the Earned Income Tax Credit. ARCHES hosted several community tax days this year to reach out to even more families.
I-CAN!® E-file can help you prepare and e-file your taxes for FREE. There is no income limit to use I-CAN!® E-file. Just answer simple questions on each screen and print your completed tax return.
25% of all children in the US have a vision problem significant enough to affect learning.
70% of juvenile delinquents have uncorrected vision problems.
53% of children of families living in poverty have uncorrected vision.
Vision for Angel’s Mission: To provide every child with the proper eye care that will assist them with their future education.
Vision for Angels was founded in 2008 by Chela Marin, in order to provide disadvantaged children who have vision concerns and lack of insurance with free eye examinations and glasses. The Southern California College of Optometry and Dr. Robert Gonzales in Santa Ana, agreed to see our uninsured, referring clients at a discounted price. Those who are unable to pay will still be provided the services and BGCGG will cover the cost through the Vision for Angel’s fund.
