FYOP (Family & Youth Outreach Program) provides counseling, educational classes, and other community programs for families with youth who are 18 years old or younger.
FYOP works closely with the Garden Grove Police Department (GGPD) and Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) to serve at-risk youth who have behavioral issues at school or at home.
How to Refer

Fill out the referral form with the student’s and their parent/legal guardian’s information. Check the boxes for the services you are them referring to.

Individual/Family/Group Counseling
Allows youth to explore their feelings, gain greater self-awareness and understanding of others, and initiate positive change in their lives.
School Counseling
We offer counseling at two of our local high schools to bring the benefits of therapy to students on campus. |
Juvenile Offender Education
Educates youth and their families on the laws and regulations relating to minors. Designed in collaboration with the Garden Grove Police Department for first-time juvenile offenders, to help deter from illegal behavior.
Drug and Alcohol Education
Educates youth on the consequences of drug-use and empowers them to be responsible for their own choices of health and safety. Parents are required to attend the first session by themselves to learn how to communicate the dangers and trends of drug use to their children.
Tobacco Intervention and Cessation Groups

Anger Management Group
Youth are guided into identifying and understand their feelings and being proactive rather than reactive in times of stress and anger.
Parenting Education
Offered to adults to focus on family conflict resolution and to enhance effective communication, set appropriate limits, and teach family responsibilities. In addition, FYOP provides short-term and ongoing groups to parents interested in working through individual and familial issues in the group setting. |
Restitution Program
Individuals who commit crime against others involving monetary loss are required to reimburse victims of crime. FYOP facilitates the exchange of funds from the client to the victim through collection and disbursement.
Community Service Program
Due to truancy or other behavioral consequences, youth are required to search out a designated non-profit agency to dedicate free work time in order to build skills of accountability and responsibility.
Graffiti Removal Program
Individuals who have participated in any type of vandalism commit to a 6-hour Saturday session of beautifying an area of Garden Grove through painting, trash collection, sweeping, pruning, etc, while giving youth pride in their community. |
TRC (Truancy Reduction Center) is a FYOP program that intervenes with students who are truant or have excessive tardies. Services include a 3 month period of monitoring and establishing attendance contracts, counseling, and assigning community service.

Be sure to check the “Truancy Reduction Center” box. Also include “20” for the community service hours.

Internships are available for Interns, Trainees, and Caseworkers who provide counseling, educational classes, and other community programs for families with youth who are 18 years old or younger.
MFT Interns and Trainees provide mental health services to youth to help them acheive effective educational, personal, and social development. AAMFT approved clinical supervisers are provided for all interns and trainees.
Requirements for Internships

6 month minimum commitment

Interns must be registered with the B.B.S. and with good standing.

Trainees must be enrolled in coursework and receive school approval.
