5-A-Day Fitness: Eat healthy the 5-A-Day Way! Learn more about the importance of fruits and vegetables being a part of your daily meals and snacks through cooking programs and special activities. Fitness exercises are also a big part of the fun and games you will experience through this program
Badminton: A program to develop hand-eye coordination and improving footwork. Our staff will focus on teaching the basic fundamentals of the sport and all of the rules of the game. Offered to all members.
Basketball: The basic fundamental skills needed to learn how to play basketball will be offered.
CAN FIT Fitness Program: A fitness and nutrition program offered to all club members. Nutrition classes along with non-competitive games & activities are included. This program helps our members develop healthy eating habits and apply what they learn in every day life through fun and informative activities.
Chess Club: Open to all students who want to learn how to play chess and improve their skills and strategies. There also is a chance for members to compete in chess competitions with other club members.
Create-A-Game: Get whacky, get creative, let your mind soar! From sports equipment to kitchen utensils, anything goes with this high energy program. Rules, equipment and length of game are all designed by club members. All ages may participate with this fun and inventive way to stay in shape, compete with fellow members, and you may even have a "game" named after you!
Flag Football: Offered to members ages 9-12. Members compete against other Boys & Girls Clubs in the county as well as Parks & Recreations in Orange County. Staff focus will be on teaching good sportsmanship in a competitive situation.
NIKE Play Program: The Nike P.L.A.Y. Daily Challenges provide fun and fitness benefits for Club members ages 5-18 throughout the year. In the Michael Jordan Invent-A-Sport-Challenge, members create their own game or sport, demonstrate it and play with peers in the gym. The Ken Griffey, Jr. Homerun Challenge builds members' basic motor skills through throwing, catching and running games. In the Jackey-Kersee Challenge, members improve their athletic abilities and fitness levels through circuit training. The Jump Rope Challenge improves strength, skills, and endurance as participants have fun "jumping against the clock." In the Dawn Staley Basketball Challenge, members practice their dribbling, assisting and shooting skills.
Ping Pong: This program will give our students the opportunity to work on their hand-eye coordination.
RBI Baseball / Softball: This program provides boys baseball and girls fast-pitch softball leagues in the 13-15 and 16-18 age groups.
Soccer: Offered to members ages 8 & up. This program helps to develop footwork and teamwork. Staff will focus on teaching the basic fundamentals of the sport and all of the rules of the game.
Swoosh Club: This teen leadership program promotes physical fitness, sports and potential athletic-related careers. Male and female members ages 13 and older meet regularly to learn about sports and fitness and serve as volunteers in their Clubs' athletic programs.
Tennis: Is offered to all members, ages 5-17. The basic fundamental skills needed to learn how to play tennis will be offered.
Track and Field: This program will teach our members proper running techniques for all ages. Focus will also be on the field events such as long jump, shot put (with a softball) and triple jump.
Volleyball: This activity will be offered twice a week throughout the school year. The focus will be the complete rules of volleyball, along with proper hitting, passing and teamwork.
