Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove has opportunities for adults to gain experience working with school-aged children. Volunteers have the opportunity to assist staff members, help run special events and contribute their unique abilities to special programming.
Academic Internships are also a great way to gain hands on experience interacting directly with the children, adolescents, and families we serve. Our Internships allow you to obtain college credit or fulfill course requirements and new experience to add to your resume.
We have many diverse Internship opportunities, such as:
- Bilingual Caseworker Intern (Counseling, Truancy Prevention, or Health Services)
- Child & Adolescent Intern
- Early Childhood Intern
- Health Science Intern
- Human Resources Intern
- MFT & MSW Practicum Students (Must be enrolled in Master’s program)
To qualify for our Internships, you must meet the following minimum requirements:
- At least 18 years of age
- Currently enrolled in college and taking college courses
- Have a High School diploma or equivalent
- Complete a volunteer application
- Pass screening and background check
- Complete a minimum of at least 120 hours in your internship

BOARD VOLUNTEER Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove (BGCGG) provides hope and opportunity through school age, family strengthening, and community outreach programs, offering over 64 program locations that serve over 6,800 children daily and 10,000 families annually. BGCGG’s mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Our vision is to ensure that the children and youth who attend our programs become competent adults, caring parents, and responsible citizens.
Position Description Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove Mission
Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove provides hope and opportunity through school age, family strengthening and community outreach programs, offering 64 program locations that serve more than 6,800 youth and teens daily and 31,000 individuals annually. As a non-profit 501c(3), our Board of Directors is composed of leaders from the non-profit and for-profit sector who are dedicated to the organization’s mission to enable all young people, especially those who need us most to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
Our vision is to ensure that the children and youth who attend our programs become competent adults, caring parents, and responsible citizens. We can do this by offering safe, enriching activities with professional, caring adults in a positive environment, by making achievement in school a priority and a reality, and finally by focusing on the development of the whole child through family foundations and community partnerships.
The Board will support the work of Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove and provide leadership and strategic governance. While BGCGG’s Chief Professional Officer (CPO) leads the day-to-day operations, the board relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected. As a Board member, you will serve as a trusted advisor to the organization and assist in the development and implementation of a strategic plan, review outcomes and metrics for evaluating impact, and approve budgets, audit reports and business decisions.
Board Member Commitments:
- Attend ¾ of all Board of Directors regular meetings (once a month)
- Attend annual Board retreat
- Serve on one committee/co-chair a committee
- Visit program sites – 64 site locations to choose from
- Serve as a Brand Ambassador and represent the organization as needed in the community.
- Give annually to the Annual Fund Campaign (based on member’s ability to give)
- Participate in Annual Fund Campaign by actively providing leads and participating in donor solicitations
- Background check and finger printing
- Support special event fundraising activities
- Two-year term, eligible for re-appointment for additional terms

Desired Skills and Experience
We are looking for interested Board members who share our vision and mission for serving youth and teens throughout Orange County. Expertise in finance, marketing, human resources, information technology, advertising, law, and education is a plus.
